We ate here tonight seeing their post last week about $100 Omakase during the week, T-Th. I was late to taking pics during our meal, but I snapped a few in the end. Wow! From our waitress, Jenn, to the great food, we were pleasantly surprised. When you see that kind of pricing, you expect to have to add on or be upcharged or whatnot. No, we ordered, and surprisingly, they accommodated our dislike of eel and mackerel. They were so sweet about offering substitutions and not even charging for it. That is not normal and was so nice. We will be back, for sure. When we pulled up, it looked dark and like no one was inside. I started to worry about my choice, but by the time we left, the place was full! This is a hidden gem, and I'm so glad we stumbled upon it. ~ Joanna S
Best omakase!!! I love NY omakase and been on the hunt for something similar. Took my mom, who is not familiar with nigiri, for the first time and she loved it. The chef was very understanding, he was explaining to my mom in Vietnamese, made her experience so much better. He also seared all her pieces since she was having a hard time with the raw fish. I also love their style of omakase, non traditional, and have a mix of everything. Personally, I don't vibe with classic omakase with simple tuba, or salmon. My most fav gotta be the shrimp, scallop, duck liver and salted egg sauce. So freaking good! Be prepared to be sooooo full afterwards. We only order 10 courses (with uni) but so full after. They also don't expect gratitude, so basically 20% off everytime you come! Will def come back and send all my friends. ~ Emmy V
Had a girl day lunch here and order the omakase. We all enjoy our time here throughly and the courses was presented beautifully and more importantly, tasted excellent. The fish was fresh and was mostly white fish which is different from a good majority of places in town. What made it stand out though is the nigiri which has a taste combination differ from any other places in DFW. Our omakase has a more asian twist than normal, where a surprise asian element was added on each piece, from a salted egg sauce to pickle onion and surprisinly but tasty fish sauce. Unexpected but definitely not unwelcome as it tasted both delightful and give us a fun experience! ~ Tram B
~ Akimitsu “
Had my first Omakase experience here and it was excellent! The chefs and servers were wonderful. The food was beautiful and delicious. This is somewhat casual and I will go back for regular sushi fare. Omakase is a premium experience $$$MKP. The location is a bit hidden in a Walmart parking lot next to a Jason’s Deli. Restaurant is larger than it looks from the outside. The night I went was Friday evening and it was not very busy. It’s only been there for about 6 months so I expect as people realize this place exists it will be much busier in the future. Highly recommended. I’m definitely going back to try the regular menu items. ~ Miko (
December 2025: Came back for a second time and had a different omakase on the menu. It was absolutely delicious! Well worth the market place. Our server tonight was Linh, who was very kind, attentive, and explained each course well. Will be coming back again! (6 months ago): Came here tonight and tried the omakase. We loved it! It was 15 nigiri, a hand roll, miso soup, and ice cream dessert. Great selection of nigiri and everything tasted super fresh. The servers were very attentive and kind as well. Will definitely be coming back to try other things on their menu! ~ Vanessa M
Was waiting with anticipation reopen of old Kyodai under new ownership now as Yujo. Loved the old decor, menu, service, food — definitely was NOT disappointed with the new format (don’t understand long rant from Brian C). Beautiful decor, attentive service and food is so creative and delicious. Cocktails top notch (Yujo Sour great twist on classic whiskey sour). We did the 1/2 Omakase, with a side dish of Miso Black Cod — all wonderful. Little pricey, not a place to bring folks who just want to cram rolls, but if you are a foodie recommend giving it a try. ~ Rich V
This restaurant delivers an exceptional dining experience with beautifully executed Japanese dishes that balance creativity and tradition. The nori tacos with foie gras and quail egg were indulgent yet well-balanced, with a crisp nori shell and rich, savory fillings. The monaka with uni, ikura, and crab was a highlight — delicate, fresh, and full of layered flavors. The assorted sushi showcased excellent quality and freshness. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, with attention to both presentation and flavor. A must-visit spot for those who appreciate elevated Japanese cuisine. ~ Thi K
My wife booked this for my birthday as a surprise and we both loved it! We both had the 20 piece course and ordered all the extras which can get a little expensive. The food was unbelievably delicious and they brought it out a little at a time and told us the order in which we are supposed to correctly eat the different fish. The service and atmosphere were amazing. I do wish the benches had seat cushions on it, they got a little uncomfortable after a while. I would absolutely recommended everyone who is a sushi lover to give this place a try! ~ Tristan B
I had the opportunity to visit a Japanese restaurant in the downtown area on the weekend. The first impression was that the space was very neat and quiet, true to the spirit of Japanese cuisine. I ordered a mixed sashimi portion and a bowl of miso soup. The fish was fresh, naturally sweet, sliced just right and beautifully presented. The staff was gentle, polite, and every action was delicate. I appreciated the way the restaurant took care of everything from the taste to the experience. An ideal place to relax after a busy week ! ~ Bonnie S
From the moment we walked in, we were transported to a peaceful corner of Japan. The space was minimalist yet sophisticated, with soft lighting and warm wood tones that exuded peace. We opted for the omakase experience and it did not disappoint, each dish was carefully prepared and artfully presented. The toro sashimi practically melted on the tongue, and the uni was fresh and salty in the best way. The service was impeccable, discreet yet attentive. A true gem for those who appreciate authentic Japanese cuisine !!! ~ Florence G
The first time I came to the restaurant, I only intended to have a few light dishes, but I was unexpectedly satisfied with the quality of the food here. The rice rolls were firm, the sushi was well-made, and very tasty. The space was also cozy, suitable for both individual dining and group dining. I was especially impressed because the prices here were much more reasonable than the average of other Japanese restaurants, but still maintained the quality of the dishes and professional service ! ~ Pandora E
Had the Umi 16-course omakase here in Frisco and it was an incredible surprise! Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, fresh, and beautifully presented. The server took the time to explain every course, which really elevated the experience and reminded me of my time in Tokyo. Truly authentic feel and flavors; definitely one of the best omakase experiences I’ve had in the area. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a genuine Japanese dining experience. ~ Andre S
A Japanese culinary experience that couldn’t be more wonderful! The salmon roe sushi really impressed me – each egg was shiny, fresh, and bursting in my mouth, carrying a gentle salty taste like the taste of the sea. The presentation was exquisite, each serving was like a work of art. The restaurant space was quiet and elegant, the service was gentle and very professional. This was not just a meal, but an inspiring journey of taste . ~ Baron K
Impeccable service, refined ambiance, and exceptional cuisine, this is what fine Japanese dining should feel like. The staff greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome immediately. We sat at the sushi bar and were delighted by the chef’s quiet precision and artistry. Every bite of nigiri was a perfect bite. Even the simple miso soup felt elevated with subtle umami depth. This wasn’t just dinner; it was an experience !!! ~ Amity G
We came here for my husband’s birthday, I made reservations for the Ultimate Omasake and the chef did not disappoint 🔥 for $100 pp it was worth it. We left full and satisfied. The cucumber salad was simple, yet tasty and refreshing. The sashimi/nigiri and everything was 10/10 including the service. Definitely recommend! I wish I would have taken pictures. ~ Ashley H
The first time I ate salmon sashimi here, I was really impressed. The fish pieces were thick, fatty, fresh and sweet, not fishy at all. The fish meat was soft but still firm, served with wasabi and soy sauce, very tasty. I also ordered grilled salmon sushi, the fat layer was just cooked, fragrant and melted in the mouth. Anyone who loves salmon should try it once !!! ~ Lisa G
Very affordable and high-quality sushi! The staff is super nice and accommodating. The atmosphere combines upscale yet casual vibes for the perfect date night. Their wasabi tako was bomb! They just brought back their salmon special so be sure to check that out! I still need to try their omakase! Follow @aanthonyate on Instagram/TikTok for more eats in Dallas - Ft. I originally thought I would just try some traditional Japanese dishes, but I was taken on such a delicate culinary journey. Each small dish was introduced with great care, and even if I don’t remember the name, I can still remember the light aroma, the subtle umami taste, and the clever combination of ingredients. I think this is one of the most personal culinary experiences I have ever had .!!! ~ Kusum T
My wife and I recently celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary at Yujo Omi, and we couldn't have chosen a better place for such a special occasion. We both opted for the $100 Ultimate Omakase, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish. The quality of the fish and ingredients was outstanding — incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared. What really impressed us was the level of customization and care the chefs provided. Knowing we were celebrating, they went the extra mile to accommodate my wife's special requests, including light smoking on select pieces and extra sauces on some of the Nigiri and Sashimi. These subtle touches made the experience even more personal and unforgettable. Beside the Ultimate Omakase, My wife and I added on some extra dishes to fulfill the night. If you’re new to Omakase and are considering trying it for the first time, I can’t recommend this course enough. It's a perfect introduction to the art of sushi — approachable, refined, and generous in portion and variety. Thank you to the entire Yujo Umi team for making our anniversary dinner so memorable. We’ll definitely be back. ~ Thông N
We got the set. Fish was very fresh. This experience was kinda different than a normal sushi place, they give you a plate of fish with an assortment of salts and a bowl of rice. You make your own handrolls or you can make sushi or just eat the sashimi on its own. I’m gluten free so I really enjoyed not needing soy sauce. The set also comes with dessert which was a scoop of ice cream for us. ~ katherine c
The sushi here is so fresh that it melts in your mouth, the rice rolls are just right, not too loose or too tight, the seasoning is harmonious. In particular, the salmon sashimi I ordered has a natural sweetness, the meat is smooth and slightly fatty - truly the quality of the ingredients has been carefully selected !!! ~ Abigail R
It was my first time trying Omakase here and I was really impressed. Not only because of the quality of the food, but also because the price was extremely reasonable compared to other places. The chef was friendly, the dishes were served at a very moderate pace, enough for me to fully enjoy each flavor. A true Japanese experience ! ~ Midge E
This is my second time eating here. Still impressed with the freshness of the fish and the neat presentation of the food. The menu is diverse, with creative sushi dishes in addition to traditional dishes. The service is quite fast, even when it is crowded, customers do not have to wait long. Really a really good place !!! ~ Belinda S
